The Talent Acquisition department hires qualified candidates to fill positions which contribute to the overall strategic success of Howard University. Hiring staff “for fit” makes significant contributions to Howard University’s overall mission.
 
BASIC FUNCTION:
The post doctorate position requires the candidate to assist with managing all research activities of the project (e.g., research design, IRB approval, data collection, data analysis) and research products (e.g., publications, presentations), supervise student assistants.
 
SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY:
Involves assisting with supervising graduate and undergraduate students.
 
NATURE AND SCOPE:
Internal contacts include faculty and staff of the College of Arts and Sciences and the Graduate School. External contacts include faculty and staff at Carnegie Mellon University and Harvard, as well as staff at the National Science Foundation.
 
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Assisting with managing the research portfolio for the AI and Societal Decision-Making project. Duties include assisting with meeting the research goals and objectives of the project and supervising student research assistants.
  • Coordinates and assure development of pertinent reports and their timely delivery.
  • Conducts data collection, statistical analysis, and data analysis for the research portfolio.
  • Participates development of manuscripts and reports, and grant proposal writing.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Competence in both oral and written English and ability to articulate concisely and in a professional manner.

  • Ability to work effectively in team-oriented interdisciplinary research.
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants should have successfully defended their dissertation and be in receipt of their PhD by May 31, 2024 in one of the following disciplines: Sociology, Physiology, Economics, or other related social science field. Doctoral students in the dissertation phase of their training will also be considered.
