Sightline is seeking a Sightline Sr. Software Engineer who will be responsible for new development, enhancements, maintenance, and support development activities within the SIGHTLINE (Workday) environment. Work either as sole or part of overall development team. Responsible for 24x7 on call support as part of a standard rotation with other team members.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with other Sightline team’s business analysts, JH IT groups and both university and health systems business users in developing new solutions, enhancements, maintenance and break/fix support activities.
  • Works under minimal supervision and direction.
  • Works with Functional Team Members to refine the scope of all integrations, conversions, and enhancements.
  • Determines the correct tool or toolset to address functional integrations, conversions, and enhancements.
  • Creates the integrations, conversions, and enhancements, coordinating with the functional teams.
  • Test the integrations, conversions, and enhancements.
  • Coordinates, with the assistance of the functional teams, to adhere to a development and testing schedule.
  • Responds to functional testing of the integrations, conversions, and enhancements.
  • Participates and respond to End-to-End (E2E) testing.
  • Creates the methods of triggers for the integrations, error logging, and schedules.
  • Designs enhancements to meet functional requirements.
  • Works with functional team members to transform the data during conversions to meet the requirements of Workday configuration.
  • Support integrations, conversions, and enhancements at and after go-live.
  • Adheres to the overall schedule of the Program, to meet the go-live date and other key milestone dates.
  • Othe duties as assigned.


Specific Devices, Software, Projects

  • Support Workday Software implementation via the development of integrations, conversions, forms, reports, and enhancements using the WD-provided toolset and 3rd party toolsets (e.g. Mendix, et al)


Scale/Size of Area, Project and/or System Supported

  • Works in a highly complex environment supporting Johns Hopkins Enterprise Employee Resource Planning (ERP) solutions.
  • The systems and job complexities are driven by the fact the university and health systems operate as separate business entities with different policies, processes and authorizations.
  • Workday will be used by all schools and areas of the university and health system.

  • Mt. Washington.

On call Requirements 

  • Responsible for 24x7 on-call support as part of a standard rotation with other team members in a primary support. On-call as needed in secondary support capacity.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Six years of related experience.
  • Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
  • Experience should include,
    • Requirements gathering and analysis.
    • Process modeling.
    • Web based design and development skills: HTML5, Java, JavaScript, or other web technologies.
    • Troubleshooting and problem resolution.
    • Performance analysis and tuning.
    • Database design.
    • Object Oriented development.
    • Hands on 2+ years of experience building OData and/or APIs.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Workday Development Experience.
  • Workday Extend Experience.
  • SAP PO Integration Development.
  • SAP Portal Development.
  • SAP HANA Development.
  • SAP SuccessFactors or Cloud Platform Integration.
  • Object Oriented ABAP development (In SAP).
  • Handheld/Mobile Device Development (Barcode scanning, Mobile Device Management).
  • SAP Upgrade or Enhancement Package/Support Stack Application (SPDD/SPAU).
  • SAP Workflow Development.
